Edna Pickett, a beacon of joy and love, passed away on April 16, 2024, at the age of 68
in Advent Hospital-Sebring, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on October
2, 1955, in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Edna's early years in Fort Pierce were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family and
the joys of Southern living. As she grew, so did her love for life and the people around
her. This love was only magnified when she became a cherished mother to her three
children, Marlo White, Neeka Smalls (married to Alvin), and Bosie Pickett. She was also
a loving sister to Annie Williams (Sylvester), Wendy Weatherspoon, and Mary Jo
Weatherspoon, and a supportive sibling to her brother, Richard Weatherspoon. Edna
was preceded in death by her husband, Bosie Pickett, her grandson Kelsey Pickett and
siblings: Sammy Weatherspoon; David Weatherspoon; Elijah Weatherspoon; Betty
Weatherspoon; Dora Weatherspoon; Rosa Weatherspoon; and Agnes Richardson.
Her life was a testament to her dedication to her family, as she was the proud
grandmother to ten grandchildren: Mashaunna Rushing (James), Consula Wells, Anita
Wells, Damarcus Ishmael, Alvejahna Smalls, Alnaja Smalls, Jamari Smalls, Silas
Pickett, Jamay Pickett, and Deion Pickett, and doted on her nine great-grandchildren.
Her extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also held a special place
in her heart.
Professionally, Edna devoted many years of service as a housekeeper at Raulerson
Hospital and Highlands Regional, where her work ethic and kind-hearted nature were
deeply appreciated by all. Edna's interests were as diverse as they were passionate.
She found solace and joy in fishing, where the calmness of the water reflected her own
peace of mind. Her hands were rarely still, as she would often be found crocheting
beautiful pieces for her loved ones or tending to her garden, nurturing each plant with
the same care she gave to her family. And no one could forget the lively card games
she relished with her friends, where her laughter was as bright as the Florida sun.
Edna Pickett will be remembered for her favorite saying “Hola, Hola”. Her legacy of love,
laughter, and kindness will continue to echo through the generations, and her memory
will be forever cherished in the hearts of those she left behind. Though she has
departed from this earthly realm, the light of her spirit will never dim. Rest in peace, dear
Edna, until we meet again.
