Ezora Battle was born on October 9, 1952, to the late Ozora Hardy and Johnnie Lee
Burton, Sr. in Lakeland, Florida. She passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18,
2024, in Lakeland, Florida. Throughout her life, Ezora was a gracious woman who
provided motherly love, nurture and kindness to all who knew her.
Ezora graduated from Lakeland Senior High School in 1972. She dedicated over 25
plus years as a manager at Kmart in Waterbury, Connecticut. Ezora was like a star
where she shined brightly wherever she went. She positively impacted many of the lives
of the people she encountered with her beauty and caring personality.
Aside from teaching and spreading Jehovah’s word, Ezora found great pleasure in
playing softball, laughing, helping others, and spending time with friends and family.
Shopping was more than a past time for Miss “E”; it was an expression of her colorful
personality. She was a very conservative and classy woman that always wore clothes
with matching accessories that were relevant and in style.
Ezora was preceded in death by her eldest brother: Johnnie Lee Burton Jr.; Sisters:
Marilyn Mobley, Shirley Burton Johnson, Thedola Burton Poe.
She is survived and cherished by a loving family: Her children Terry Edwards Haslett,
Michigan, Lashannon Bailey Lakeland, FL.; Aunts: Evelena Cunningham Ocala, FL,
Algene Hopkins Ocala, FL, Carolyn Hardy aka “Aunt Sister” Lakeland, FL ; Uncles:
George Burton Ohio, Freddie Lee Hardy Lakeland, FL, ; Brothers: Eugene Burton
Lakeland, FL, Jerry Burton Lakeland, FL, Jerome (Betty) Burton Sr. Lakeland, FL, Gary
(Patricia) Strong Lakeland, FL, Sisters: Sarah Dell (James) Hollis Orlando, FL, Jackie
(Jewell) Lewis Lakeland, FL, 5 Grandchildren: Jonathan Edwards, Gianna Edwards,
Jalen Edwards, Aamori Edwards, Quinn Edwards; a host of brothers and sisters of the
Kingdom Hall; and an innumerable amount of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ezora’s legacy of beauty, unconditional love, understanding, and patience will forever be
missed and cherished by all who knew and loved her.
