In Loving Memory of
James Edward Weston Sr.
James Edward Weston Sr. was born in Lake Harbor, Florida to the late Caretha Wyche, delivered
by a beloved community midwife on October 10, 1946. He was educated by the Florida Public
School System. Caretha later united in holy matrimony with the late Eugene Callahan Sr., and
together they made their home in Lake Placid, where they lovingly raised a family of ten
children.
As a young man, James dedicated more than 40 years to working in the citrus industry, where
he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment. He spent many years picking fruit and
operating the lightning loader, taking great pride in providing for his family through honest hard
work.
James was known for his kind heart, infectious smile, and the happiness he brought wherever
he went. He enjoyed the simple things in life, especially fishing, spending quality time with
family and friends, and sitting on the porch telling stories filled with laughter. Anyone who
stopped by could count on sharing a good laugh and leaving in better spirits. James also had a
collection of funny and one-of-a-kind dance moves that kept family gatherings lively and
entertained everyone around him.
On the early morning of Monday, May 11, 2026, at AdventHealth Lake Placid, James Edward
Weston Sr. peacefully accepted his Master’s calling into eternal rest.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories his devoted lifetime partner, Dorthy Jean Goldsmith.
James is also survived by his beloved children:
James E. Weston Jr. (Naomi) of St. Michael, MN
Tyron D. Brown (Felicia) of Brooklyn Park, MN
Alexander Robinson (Samantha) of Sebring, FL
Sharon Y. Weston of Winter Haven, FL;
Stepchildren: Michelle Weston Miller, Latina Brown and Jerrick Weston
and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
James also leaves behind his cherished siblings:
Ralph Callahan Sr. (Ada) of Lake Placid,
Emma Ward (Willie C. Ward Sr., deceased) of Lake Placid,
Dale Callahan Sr. (Sylvia) of North Carolina,
Thomas L. Callahan of Lake Placid,
Eugene Callahan Sr. (Yvonne) of Lake Placid,
Gwynnell Callahan of Orlando,
Henry Callahan of Orlando,
Tony Callahan Sr. (Veronica) of Ohio,
and Evelyn Williams (Ivory) of Lake Placid.
He was preceded in death by his Mother Caretha Callahan, stepfather, Eugene Callahan Sr.,
daughter Danielle Weston Morgan, stepson Micheal A. Weston, brother Jerry Callahan and
brother-in-law Willie C. Ward Sr.
James Edward Weston Sr. will forever be remembered for his laughter, kindness, love for
family, and the unforgettable moments shared with those who knew him best. His presence will
be deeply missed, but his memories will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
