NeKra Shiquana Jones, a beacon of love and passion,
departed this life on March 15, 2024, in her hometown
of Lakeland, Florida, where she first saw the world on
July 30, 1975. NeKra, known for her loving nature, friendly
demeanor, and passionate spirit, touched the lives of all
who knew her.
She earned an Associate’s Degree that fueled her lifelong
love of learning and growth. NeKra’s zest for life was
evident in her adoration for the outdoors, especially the
beach, where she felt most at peace. Her love for children
was profound, and she cherished every moment spent
in their company. Shopping was more than a pastime
for NeKra; it was an expression of her personality, with a
special fondness for anything adorned with leopard print
or butterflies.
NeKra was preceded in death by her mother Cynthia
Engram, grandparents Ida and Albert Spencer, a loving
Father Robert Earl Jones. Her memories will be cherished
by her daughters; Collisha Rhodes and Nekiah Jones, Two
Dads; Phillip Engram and Jerry Lee Johnson, Brothers;
Terrance Green Collis Rhodes, Hollis Rhodes, Chris
Rhodes, Anthony Whitehead, Reginald Johnson; Sisters;
Syrell (Micheal) Hadley, Jamecia Johnson, Daphne
Hamilton, Darchell Garner, Tywanda McNealy Jones,
Latasha Rhodes; Aunts; Linda Spencer, Evelyn Payne,
and Catherine Moore,Uncles; Willie Lee Spencer, Eddie
Moore, Clinsely Jones, Bo Johnson and Eddie Wesley and
a host of cousins nieces, nephews and godchildren.
In the words of Maya Angelou, “People will forget what
you said, people will forget what you did, but people
will never forget how you made them feel.” NeKra’s
memory will forever be a testament to this truth, as she
leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will
continue to inspire and comfort those she loved.
